Rory Callum Sykes, a former child star from Australia, has tragically died in the devastating Los Angeles wildfires that swept through his family’s Malibu estate in California earlier this week.
His mother Shelley Sykes wrote on X Thursday that on January 8, Rory Callum Sykes was at his family’s 17-acre Mount Malibu TV Studios estate, where he had his own cottage.
Rory starred on the British television show Kiddy Kapers in 1998 as “beautiful” and “wonderful”. The Australian actor was born blind and with cerebral palsy on July 29, 1992.
He also served as a motivational speaker and helped form the Happy Charity organization with his mom in addition to his work in front of the camera.
Shelley Sykes said she had tried to extinguish the wildfire ashes using a hose but failed, as the water was not working.
Her son, who had become famous for his speeches on overcoming disability, was the co-founder of Happy Charity.
Although Rory was born in Britain, he first started living in Australia and then lived in the USA.
According to the website, Rory describes himself as a professional speaker. He was also a consultant for Tony Robbins Foundation, the Cerebral Palsy Alliance and many other companies.
In 2003, Rory and his mother attended an Australian television show “Mornings with Kerri-Anne”. He also discussed the United States trips at a Tony Robbins motivational conference.
