The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a recall last week for Tostitos tortilla chips.
Frito-Lay, an American food company that manufactures, markets, and sells snack foods, manufactured the chips.
While the recall has yet to be categorised, the FDA describes the case as potentially “serious or life-threatening” to individuals.
The recall affected nearly 1,000 bags of Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips as they may contain milk.
The affected bags may include a variety of nacho cheese tortilla chips made with milk.
According to the FDA, the recalled product should not be consumed by those with allergies or severe sensitivities to milk. Frito-Lay, in a media statement, said if the consumer does not have a dairy allergy or sensitivity, the product “is safe to consume”.
The FDA confirmed that, to date, no allergic reactions have been reported in connection with this matter, adding that the recall affected no other Tostitos products.
The recall specifically affects 1,300 bags of Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips distributed in 13 states.
They are Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Virginia.
On March 7, 2025, bags were available for purchase from grocery stores, convenience stores, e-commerce distributors and drug stores.
