Bill Granger, renowned Australian cook, passes away

The Australian cook and restaurateur Bill Granger, also Godfather’ of avocado toast chef, has died in London. He was 54.
Granger became a celebrated global restaurateur and food writer as a self-taught cook.
He breathed his last at a hospital peacefully on Christmas Day, his family confirmed on Instagram, reports the guardian.
Meanwhile, fellow cooks, celebrities, and lovers of his restaurants paid tribute following his death.
The Instagram post also said Granger’s wife Natalie Elliott and three daughters– Edie, Inès, and Bunny– were at his bedside.
Born in Melbourne, Granger was remembered on Wednesday as the person for the global popularity of avocado on toast. He became widely known as the “godfather” of avocado toast.
In 1993, Granger dropped out of art school and moved to Sydney. He later opened his first restaurant, bills, in Darlinghurst, Sydney. The corner cafe served at a central communal table as it became known for its fresh flavours and breakfast food.
He and Elliott launched their business globally in 1999, which ultimately incorporated 19 restaurants in Australia, the UK, Japan and Korea.
The cook wrote 14 cookbooks and made five television series. He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia last January.
His family wrote on social media that, “He[ Granger ] will be remembered as the ‘King of Breakfast’ and will be deeply missed by all, with his loss most profoundly felt by his adored family. They are grateful for all the love and support that has been given.”
