Can you sit in Starbucks without buying anything?

Starbucks in 2018 made a policy that anyone can use their restrooms, patio and cafés for as long as they like and issued a notice to their servers stating that they would be treated like any other patrons.
So, you can sit at a Starbucks from the time it opens until it closes without any problem, as long as you do not disturb other customers.
The company back then said that anyone could access their facilities without buying even a single coffee or a doughnut, but mentioned in its notice that their employees should still call the cops if they if someone is a safety threat.
A Redditor back then asked if the Starbucks wifi was excellent. They wanted to go and buy some coffee and stay there for a while. How long would it be before the management threw him out for sticking around for so long?
To this another answered that they used to do their entire morning shift from 7:30 to 4:00pm without a bother from anyone.
Some of its employees on Reddit echoed the same.
The new policy was issued a month after two black men who did not purchase anything were arrested at a Starbucks in Philadelphia back in 2018.
The new CEO of the company Brian Niccol on Friday made a promise to his customers and set a goal for his employees. The former Chipotle boss said he wants to take Starbucks to its former glory days and wants to ensure a cup of coffee for every customer in less than 30 seconds. That’s one bold move. He wants to achieve it in the next five years.
