American professional football coach Daniel Allen Campbell played in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, and New Orleans Saints.
Campbell also played in the Super Bowl with the Giants in 2000. He was a member of the Saints team. It earned a victory in the Super Bowl in 2009.
The 48-year-old has been the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL) head coach since the 2021 season.
From 2016 to 2020, he served as the assistant head coach and tight ends coach for the New Orleans Saints.
Dan also performed duty as an assistant coach from 2010 to 2015 for the Miami Dolphins. Then, he served as the interim head coach for most of the 2015 season.
The head coach led the Lions to their first division title since 1993. Their first playoff win in 1991. They also achieved their second-ever NFC championship appearance.
Born in Clifton Texas, Dan was a tailback and tight end in the school and attended Glen Rose High School.
The head coach earned a football scholarship from Texas A&M University and shared the tight-end position with Derrick Spiller.
As a junior, he posted 12 receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns.
The New York Giants in the third round of the 1999 NFL draft selected Campbell.
Dan Campbell started four games in 2000, and he was a part of the team that appeared in Super Bowl XXXV.
After passing Howard Cross on the depth chart, he became the team’s regular starting tight end in 2001. The team had been mainly used as a blocking tight end.
