Jamaican superstar and sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce shocks fans with a stunning withdrawal from the Paris Olympics 2024.

Shelly-Ann withdrew from the Women’s 100m semi-finals in a jaw-dropping turn of events at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Her withdrawal sent shockwaves through the athletics world.

The dramatic decision of two-time Olympic 100 champion Shelly-Ann came after she faced unexpected hurdles — both literally and figuratively– just before her race.

Her quest for another title ended abruptly Saturday when she pulled out before the 100-meter semifinal.

However, her retirement confused fans and competitors.

According to Olympic officials, Shelly-Ann Fraser suffered an undisclosed injury. Before the Jamaican sprinter was supposed to race Sha’Carri Richardson and Julien Alfred in the second semifinal, the letters, “DNS” and “Did Not Start” flashed on the scoreboard.

The team manager Ludlow Watts told the Jamaica Observer that they only acquired the information that she (Shelly-Ann) is injured, but a team doctor is addressing the matter.

To take the gold medal, Julien Alfred however finished beating Richardson in both the semifinal and the final.

Jamaican superstar earned gold medals in 2008 and 2012.

In a social media post early Sunday morning, Shelly-Ann Fraser said this will be her fifth and final Olympics and thanked her supporters but she did not especially give information about her injury.

She posted that finding the words to describe the depth of her disappointment is difficult for her.

Shelly-Ann Fraser said she knows that her supporters share and shoulder this disappointment with her.

She said she is truly blessed to get the steadfast support of her fans since her Olympic debut in 2008.

She has a total of eight Olympic medals and 16 medals at world championships.

Acquiring Gold in the 4×100 at the Tokyo Games in 2021 and five titles in the 100 are mentionable.
