Is Jasmine Crockett a moderate?

Jasmine Crockett, an American lawyer and politician who has been a US representative from Texas’s 30th congressional district since January 2023, is generally considered a progressive rather than a moderate.

Crockett has been ranked among the most progressive members in the Texas House.

In addition, she served as the Democratic freshman class representative between the House Democratic leadership and the nearly 35 newly elected Democrats.

The US representative, who was named co-chair of the 2024 Harris-Walz campaign, is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, which aligns her with progressive policies and positions.

Previously, she represented the 100th district in the Texas House of Representatives. Crockett was a public defender for Bowie County and had earlier experienced law in a private firm.

​Her recent actions, including opposing figures like Elon Musk, further indicate her progressive stance.

Recently Jasmine Crockett faced criticism roundly after she mocked her state’s governor, Greg Abbott, who uses a wheelchair, as “Government. Hot Wheels”.

While addressing the Human Rights Campaign event at a banquet in Los Angeles, the Texas representative also said all know that they got Government Hot Wheels down there. Come on, now.

In 1984, Abbott, 67, who was paralyzed after a tree collapsed on him while running, was elected in 2014. His spinal cord was damaged severely in the accident.

Republicans roundly criticized Crockett, elected to the House in 2022, for the comments during her speech to the civil rights group event, according to video of the event posted to Human Rights Campaign’s YouTube channel.

Texas Senator John Cornyn posted on X that her (Crockett) comments are disgraceful.

Crockett posted on X that she was not referring to Abbott’s condition. She means his policy of sending thousands of immigrants who were in Texas illegally to cities where local policy limits cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
