Malcolm in the Middle is one of the most influential sitcoms of the new millennium.
The show is finally getting a four-episode revival on Disney+ with original cast members Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek, and Frankie Muniz ahead of its 25th anniversary.
The trio are expected to reprise their roles as Malcolm and his parents Hal and Lois.
Malcolm in the Middle is primarily about a young genius with an IQ of 165 who is trying to navigate his life with his quirky and often difficult family.
The show has a cult following and kickstarted the single-camera sitcoms on television which inspired and gave rise to other comedies in the genre such as The Office, Modern Family, Arrested Development, and 30 Rock.
As for the Fox network, Malcolm in the Middle was its best thing since The Simpsons.
When it debuted in January 2000, the show had a nearly 23 million audience, which increased to 26 million the following week.
The series also catapulted the careers of some of its actors, namely, Bryan Cranston. He became a megahit actor in the AMC series Breaking Bad, one of the highest-rated TV shows of all time, according to IMDb.
Bryan Cranston is returning to the revival series as an executive producer.
Muniz is a race car driver now, who does on-and-off acting gigs.
As one of the realistic depictions of a dysfunctional family, the show was ahead of its time.
