Nintendo, a Japanese multinational video game company, has officially announced the upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch 2, the latest gaming console for the company. The console is scheduled to launch on June 5 this year.

The new console features a larger 7.9-inch 1080p screen supporting up to 120 fps (frames per second) and HDR (High Dynamic Range).

The Nintendo Switch 2, an upcoming hybrid video game console developed by Nintendo, is the successor to the Nintendo Switch.

The game, which was announced on January 16, 2025, is set to be released on June 5, 2025.

Nintendo’s announcement came after months of intense speculation and cryptic teaser videos.

The video game console will launch at a retail price of £395.99 for the basic package and £429.99 bundled with Mario Kart World.

The screen is now larger, measuring 7.9 inches. It offers double the pixels of the previous display and a 1080p resolution.

The original Nintendo Switch was released by Nintendo in March 2017. The game was developed in the wake of the commercial failure of the Wii U.

Nintendo revealed a more vibrant display on the Switch 2, a larger screen and several games at its 60-minute Nintendo Direct presentation.

The retail price of the Switch 2 $449.99 fixed by Nintendo at launch, is significantly higher than the original Switch’s $299 price tag.

The customers will get a separate bundle, “Mario Kart World,” for $499.99.
