Kate Middleton, Britain’s Princess of Wales, has been hospitalized after she has undergone successful planned abdominal surgery, Kensington Palace said on Wednesday.
Kate, 42, the wife of heir to the throne Prince William, is likely to remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days before returning home to recover, the palace statement said, adding that the surgery was successful.
On Tuesday, she was admitted to a private clinic in central London, her Kensington Palace office said.
However, the place did not give any details of the surgery, but a palace spokesman said the condition was non-cancerous.
Kate, based on the current medical advice, is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter (on March 31).
The price is regularly seen with her 41-year-old husband, William, and their three young children, but she is also increasingly undertaking solo public engagements.
Kensington Palace added: Kate hopes that the public will understand her intent on maintaining as much normality for her three children—- Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte – as possible. She also wishes that her personal medical information would remain private.
Kate wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to suspend her forthcoming engagements.
Kate spent four days in a hospital in 2012 suffering from severe morning sickness while she was pregnant with her eldest son George.
Princess Kate is expected to recover at home in Windsor after being discharged from the hospital. The couple relocated to Windsor in 2022 from their previous base in London.
