Lynn Yamada Davis, the beloved TikTok chef known for her “Cooking with Lynja” videos, has died, her son announced on social media, report ABC and The New York Times.

Davis, 67, breathed her last at Riverview Medical Center in New Jersey on January 1, said her son on Friday, adding that her final moments were “super peaceful”.

Hannah Mariko Shofet, daughter of Davis, said her mother had been suffering from esophageal cancer.

According to the media report, the content creator was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2019 and esophageal cancer in 2021.

Davis, also known for her over-the-top, edited cooking videos on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube with jokes.

Talking to PEOPLE last summer, Davis said before her son, Tim, started posting videos of her on TikTok, she had “no idea” what it was.

Davis’s son Tim Davis, also a videographer, asked her to join a casual month-long project to record a daily video at the beginning of the pandemic. Although the COVID lockdown continued, the mother and son created non-stop cooking videos for YouTube and TikTok.

Davis said Tim writes the script and does videography and the editing. She said he is the genius behind Cooking with Lynja, adding that “I just show up.”

A few months after starting to share the video clips, her zany bacon, egg and cheese recipe video blew up online as well as her fame.

Davis achieved over 17 million TikTok followers for her unusual cooking videos in which she showed her dancing, silly expressions, and her instructions with explosive special effects.

She also reached 9.62 million and 2.2 million followers on YouTube and Instagram respectively.

Meanwhile, content creators paid tribute to Davis on social media after the death of TikTok star Lynn “Lynja” Yamada Davis on New Year’s Day spread.
