The final of the World Cup 2022 was a thrilling experience for football lovers all over the world. Lionel Messi’s Argentina on Sunday (December 18) bagged the title against France as the Argentines secured a dramatic win on penalties. They had to wait 36 long years to achieve the title once again.
It was an extraordinary showdown from both sides. However, the dream of Messi and millions of his supporters comes true in the FIFA World Cup 2022 at Lusail Stadium in Qatar.
France’s Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick but could not save his team. It was a rare one as the last FIFA World Cup final hat trick happened in 1966.
Argentina started well and took a two-goal lead in just 36 minutes of the game. Messi and De Maria scored the duo. They were at ease and in a chilling mood until 80 minutes of the game. After scoring the first goal, France equalized very quickly. The score was Argentina 2- France 2.
Then Messi took a lead in the 108th minute. It was Mbappé again who scored the third goal for him and his team. The whole match was full of attacks and counter-attacks from both teams. The score was 3-3 before the players were preparing for the penalty shoots.
Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez does not miss many. And he proved it once again. Martinez won FIFA World Cup golden glove after his penalty shootout heroics against France. Argentina won 4-2 on penalties. And the credit goes to Martinez. What a brilliant performance throughout the tournament.
France star striker Kylian Mbappé bagged the 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot award for his hat trick in the final against Argentina.
The King of football, Lionel Messi, won the 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Ball award for his magical performance from the very beginning of the tourney to the last game. It was his last World Cup as he declared his retirement from World Cup after this one. Messi is the only player to win the Golden Ball award twice in FIFA World Cup. He won the first one in 2014 and the other one in 2022.
After tasting a defeat by Saudi Arabia in this World Cup, Argentina was not defeated by any other team. Finally, the Argentina team and its fans smiled with joy as the World Cup 2022 title was achieved by Messi’s Argentina.
