5 Monsoon Home Tips: Get Rid of Musty Smells in Your Home
By TOI Desk Report March 3, 2024 Update on : March 3, 2024
Seeing puddles during the monsoon is common. They hide behind the clouds. Due to a lack of enough sunlight, it’s hard to dry clothes properly. Unless wet clothes are gathered in one corner of the house, there is no way to dry them conveniently. When wet clothes dry inside the house, a musty smell fills the air. Additionally, during the rainy season, windows are kept closed to prevent outside air from entering. But when everything comes inside, a damp smell lingers.
However, there are solutions to these problems. By using a few household tricks, you can get rid of the unpleasant smell in your home.
1) To eliminate the musty smell, pour some vinegar into a bowl and place it in a high place in your home. Vinegar will absorb the smell.
2) You can buy scented wax candles in the market. You can light them occasionally. They enhance the ambiance of the house and eliminate odors.
3) Use your favorite scented room fresheners. Choose a freshener with long-lasting fragrance qualities.
4) Even if you keep the windows closed during the rain, open them when it stops. This allows cool outside air to come in and removes lingering odors.
5) Odors can also come from curtains and doors. Take down the curtains once a week during the rainy season.
