The cause behind the death of American actress, comedian, singer, and model Erica Ash was cancer.

Erica Ash, best known for MadTV, the sitcom Survivor’s Remorse, Rosie O’Donnell’s The Big Gay Sketch Show, and the Kevin Hart series Real Husbands of Hollywood, died in Los Angeles on Sunday at age 46.

Ash’s publicist Elizabeth Much told The Hollywood Reporter that she died after a long battle with cancer.

Erica, who was an amazing woman and talented entertainer, touched countless lives with her sharp wit, humor, and genuine zest for life,” said in a statement issued by her family.

Ash also starred as the fierce public defender Gwen Sullivan on the 2018 BET drama In Contempt.

In 2006-08, she first made an impression by starring in the first two seasons of Logo’s The Big Gay Sketch Show.

Erica Ash appeared on the big screen in Scary Movie V in 2013, Uncle Drew in 2018, The Big Bend in 2021, and Violet in 2021.

She played Mary Charles Calloway, half-sister of Jessie T Usher’s pro basketball player Cam Calloway, on all four seasons of Survivor’s Remorse.

LeBron James at his Spring Hill Productions produced the series.

Ash made life extremely difficult for her ex-husband Kevin Hart on Real Husbands of Hollywood as Bridgette Hart. It ran for five seasons from 2013-16.

Born in Florida on September 19, 1977, Erica Chantal Ash was raised in Atlanta. She attended Emory University to study medicine in Atlanta. Ash went to Japan after taking a break. The model “fell into a background singing gig my first week there” in Japan and did some modeling. The actress worked on Broadway in 2011 in Baby It’s You!
