Star Burt, a reptile, who died at the age of at least 90 years old, appeared alongside actors Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski in the 1986 Crocodile Dundee movie and became Australia’s answer to Paul the Octopus.

The giant crocodile that featured in the hit Australian comedy film, passed away peacefully over the weekend in Australia’s Darwin, marking the end of an incredible era, Australian Reptile Park Crocosaurus Cove announced.

The death was also announced in an Instagram post, stating that the passing of Burt, star of the Australian classic Crocodile Dundee and the iconic Saltwater crocodile, was a great sadness for all.

Australian actor and comedian Paul Hogan starred as a daring Australian crocodile hunter in Crocodile Dundee who feels like a fish out of water after visiting New York in America. The film was released in 1986 and quickly became one of the highest-grossing films in Australia.

Captured in the 1980s in the Reynolds River, Burt’s life story is one of strength, resilience, and a personality as bold as the Top End itself.

The reptile became one of the most recognised crocodiles in the world. The star helped to shape Australia’s image as a land of rugged natural beauty and awe-inspiring wildlife by appearing in Crocodile Dundee.

Burt made his way to Crocosaurus Cove in 2008. He became a fierce and fascinating ambassador in the cave for crocodile education.

The saltwater crocodile was known for its independent nature. He made this clear at a crocodile farm during his earlier years.

Burt wasn’t just a crocodile; he was a reminder of the power, force of nature and majesty of these incredible creatures. He was beloved by those who worked with him and the thousands of worldwide visitors over the years. Especially at feeding time, the visitors wondered at his remarkable size and impressive presence.
