A federal judge has resentenced Julie Chrisley to seven years in jail for her conviction on bank fraud and tax evasion charges.

The court declined the reality TV star’s request for less time in prison than was originally imposed, according to an AP report.

Chrisley and her husband, Todd Chrisley, rose to stardom due to their show, “Chrisley Knows Best,” which followed the tight-knit family and their extravagant lifestyle.

In 2022, a jury found them guilty of conspiring to defraud community banks out of more than $30 million in fraudulent loans.

By hiding their earnings, the Chrisleys were also found guilty of tax evasion.

Julie’s counsel, Alex Little, asked the court to reduce her sentence to no more than five years, arguing that she was a minor player in the crimes and that her “scattered offenses” were “dramatic mistakes.”

He also noted that she behaved well in prison and took advantage of enrichment opportunities during her 20 months in prison so far, earning more than 70 certificates.

Little also argued that her two youngest children were struggling with “day-to-day functioning” due to their mother’s absence.

However, Federal prosecutor Annalise Peters pleaded with the judge to reimpose the seven years.

According to her, Julie had not apologised, shown remorse, or admitted any wrongdoing.

Chrisley’s behavior in prison does not cancel out “11-year journey of fraud after fraud after fraud,” Peters said.

Before the Chrisleys became reality stars, they along with a former business partner submitted false documents to Atlanta banks to obtain fraudulent loans, prosecutors said during their trial.

They accused the couple of spending extravagantly on luxury cars, designer clothes, real estate and travel, and using new fraudulent loans to pay off old ones.

Todd Chrisley later filed for bankruptcy, according to prosecutors, walking away from more than $20 million in unpaid loans.
