DJ Clark Kent’s career was nothing less than impressive. He was a DJ for hip-hop artists such as Dana Dane, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, and Notorious B.I.G. He also designed sneakers for Nike and Adidas.
Born as Rodolfo Franklin on 28 September 1966 in Panama, Kent was a Panamanian-American hip-hop record producer, DJ, and music executive. He died on October 24 of colon cancer at the age of 57.
Kent is known for his work with several artists including Jay-Z’s critically acclaimed debut album “Reasonable Doubt” where he produced three tracks. He introduced Notorious B.I.G. to Jay-Z and they shared a track in the album called, “Brooklyn’s Finest”.
Later, Kent introduced his cousin Foxy Brown to Jay-Z, and the two worked together to bring out the hit single “Ain’t No Nigga”.
Jay-Z on his outgoing album shouted out to Clark Kent for helping him break into the industry.
He worked with Mariah Carey on the single “Loverboy”, and also worked on projects with Lil Kim and 50 Cent.
In the 1980s, the Panamanian DJ started working for rapper Dana Dane and later became a part of Junior M.A.F.I.A. The group took out its debut album in 1995.
Kent’s crew of DJs is called “The Supermen”, and needless to say he was probably a Superman fan as his stage name is named after him – Clark Kent.
Kent’s net worth was estimated to be around $10 million as of 2023.
Aside from his profession as a DJ, Clark was a sneaker aficionado and claimed to own 3,500 pairs at one time.
Although the sneaker world often calls itself “a culture,” Kent termed it a community.
Nike commissioned Kent in 2010 to design and unveil a “Nike Five Boroughs AF1 Low” pack of special limited edition Nike Air Force 1 shoes.
During his life, he also collaborated with other popular sneaker brands, such as Adidas and New Balance.
