Real Madrid took on a Borussia Dortmund barrage to win the Champions League for a record 15th time as Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr. struck late in a 2-0 win at the Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday.

Carvajal headed in a corner from Toni Kroos in the 74th minute, and ten minutes later, Vini Jr fired home to seal the deal and extend Madrid’s record as the most successful club in Champions League history.

Madrid won their last nine European Cup finals and the trophy six times in the last 11 seasons.

However, not for the first time, they had to rely on a little luck as underdogs Dortmund were left to regret bitterly not making the best of their chances in the first half.

Niclas Fuellkrug hit the post, while Karim Adeyemi failed to convert a one-on-one with Thibaut Courtois.

Madrid always finds a way into Europe’s elite competition and makes more history in London.

“They left us alive with the game level and in the second half we started to play better,” said Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Carvajal, Kroos, Nacho, and Luka Modric joined Real legend Paco Gento to become the only players to win the European Cup six times.

As the most successful coach in the competition’s history with a fifth title under his belt, Ancelotti also further extended his record.
