Friends star Matthew Perry never married, nor did he have any children.

The American Canadian actor was briefly engaged to literary manager Molly Hurwitz in November 2020. However, their engagement broke off the following year.

During his career as an actor, Perry dated Yasmine Bleeth in 1995, Julia Roberts from 1995 to 1996, and Lizzy Caplan from 2006 to 2012.

Matthew Perry died on October 28, last year in Los Angeles, California. The comic actor’s best work in his career would undoubtedly be his portrayal of a sarcastic Chandler Bing on one of the most popular sitcoms Friends (1994–2004).

Born on August 19, 1969, in Williamstown, Massachusetts, to parents Suzanne Marie Langford and John Bennett Perry, Matthew was an only child.

Her mother was a journalist who later in life served as the press secretary to Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, father of Justin Trudeau.

His father, John Bennett Perry, was an American actor and former model who was known for playing a sailor in the Old Spice cologne commercials in the 1970s and ’80s.

His parents divorced when he was one year old and lived with his mother in Ottawa, Ontario, Toronto, and Montreal. At 15, Perry moved to Los Angeles to live with his father and became interested in acting.

He studied acting at Buckley School, a college-preparatory school in Sherman Oaks.

While attending Buckley, he took improv classes at LA Connection, a comedy theater. In 1979, Matthew Perry made his debut on TV, with an episode of 240-Robert, a police drama starring his father.

In the mid-80s Perry performed minor roles on shows such as — Charles in Charge, Silver Spoons, and The Tracey Ullman Show.

His first starring role was in the sitcom Second Chance (later renamed Boys Will Be Boys), which had one season the same year he graduated from Buckley in 1987.

In 1988, Perry made his silver-screen debut in A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, a coming-of-age film co-starring River Phoenix, brother of Joaquin Phoenix.

He had a memorable role on the hit sitcom Growing Pains the following year. However, most of the shows he was in were axed after a season or two.

His big break came with Friends in 1994, which immediately became a sensation. Perry’s character Chandler was one of the breakout characters, loved by the fans.

The mostly unknown cast of Friends became international stars, and, by the end of it, in the last two seasons, Perry and his co-stars were earning $1 million per episode.

Perry was nominated for an Emmy in 2002.
