American voice actress and scriptwriter Rachael Lillis was a voice actor best known for playing Jessie in Pokemon. She was also a voice actor for Misty in Pokémon’s anime dub.

Rachael played Ash’s companion and Team Rocket’s female lead from 1997 to 2015, across TV, film, and commercials.

Her name came to the limelight in media as the voice actor who starred in many “Pokémon” films and series died at the age of 46 on August 10, her co-star Veronica Taylor confirmed the death.

The iconic Pokemon voice actor had been suffering from breast cancer since May 2024 after she was diagnosed with the deadly disease, said Veronica Taylor in a statement on X Monday morning.

Taylor wrote that with a very heavy heart, she shared the news of the passing of Rachael Lillis on Saturday evening (August 10, 2024).

Rachael Lillis was an extraordinary talent, a bright light that shone through her voice, said Taylor.

Lillis started her career with voice acting in the 1990s. She appeared in hundreds of TV shows, anime series, and video games late 2010s.

She voiced Misty, who became one of the most popular characters in the early “Pokémon” universe, alongside Ash and his Pikachu, in the original “Pokémon” anime in 1998.

Rachael Lillis also voiced Jessie, who is one-half of the villainous Team Rocket.

In addition to several other creatures, Lillis brought Jigglypuff, the pink, singing Pokémon, to life.

She voiced Jigglypuff in “Super Smash Brothers” throughout all four entries as well as the Pokémon Goldeen in the games.

“Pokémon: The First Movie as Misty and Jessie in 1999, “Pokémon: The Movie 2000,” “Mewtwo Returns,” “Spell of the Unown,” “Pokémon 4Ever,” “The Mystery of Mew” “Jirachi Wish Maker,” “Destiny Deoxys,” “Lucario and Pokémon Heroes,” were best works of Lillis.
