Why did Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs arrest in New York?

American rapper and record producer Sean “Diddy” Combs has been arrested in New York City as he has faced a parade of sexual assault lawsuits and a federal human trafficking investigation in 2023.

The Grammy winner was arrested at the Park Hyatt Hotel on 57th Street in Manhattan on Monday. Later, Homeland Security Investigations took him into custody at approximately 8:15pm, a source familiar with the negotiations told CNN.

The Music mogul has been in New York City since last week.

Meanwhile, the arrest of the 54-year-old rapper has sparked wild reactions on social media.

According to a statement from Damian Williams, US attorney for the Southern District of New York, the arrest was made based on an indictment that is expected to be unsealed Tuesday morning.

The details of the case and charges against Combs are not clear at this time.

According to the source, negotiations for the surrender of Combs had been ongoing, and the sealed indictment was voted on Monday.

Marc Agnifilo, an attorney for Combs, told CNN that they are disappointed with the decision to pursue what they believe is an unjust prosecution of Combs by the US Attorney’s Office.

Combs, who is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist, has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community.

Agnifilo told CNN that the music icon is an imperfect person but is not criminal.
